How to Buy a Vintage Watch Without Getting Ripped Off
Share
Buying a vintage watch online can feel risky. It does not have to be. Follow these five rules.
1. Demand real photos. Stock photos or blurry single shots hide problems. An honest seller shows the dial, case, back, and bracelet up close.
2. Read the flaws, not just the praise. Every vintage watch has wear. If a listing claims a 40 year old watch is perfect, be suspicious. Honest sellers tell you what is wrong.
3. Ask about the battery and running condition. For quartz watches, a fresh battery and a run test are the minimum. If the seller cannot tell you it runs, walk away.
4. Check the return policy. A seller who stands behind their watches offers returns. No returns means no confidence.
5. Compare against sold listings. Check what the same watch actually sold for on eBay, not what people are asking. Asking prices are wishes. Sold prices are facts.
We built Hole Watch Co around these rules. Real photos, disclosed flaws, fresh batteries, and a 30 day guarantee on every watch.
